Menagerie a Trois

May 10, 2006

Near the end of April we helped the son move into his very OWN place and noticed he was in need of

some new furnishings to replace his collection of "Early Canadian Castoff".  A dresser for his bedroom topped

the list since the wire baskets from university days were no longer making the grade.

So today we took another drive to Peterborough to deliver the item. It took the three of us approximately two hours to completely assemble the contents of two long flat  boxes. Thanks IKEA.....and  happy birthday son.*S*.  Two more Phillips screwdrivers would have helped to speed things along.  Hmmm, perhaps a tool kit should be added to the "list".

The apartment isn't terribly large, but it has one very unique feature.... a sky light that covers most of the ceiling in the main living area.  Plenty of sun light, but plenty of heat as well.  I'm thinking the next thing on the wish list will be an air conditioner.

Over the past several months we discovered that the boy has been acquiring a few pets.  Friends were moving and the softy volunteered to take in the four legged furry critters.  First to arrive was Ginger, a quiet unassuming short eared rabbit. Quiet until you want her to come OUT of her cage and she DOESN'T.  Rabbits can definitely  do more than twitch their noses.

The second adoptee was Scooter. I have never in my life seen or felt a Chinchilla,

but if the son can collect another 100 or so, I have a great idea what to do with all of them.  (haha)

The last to arrive was Fizzgig..... what the heck is a Fizzgig?

Simply another unwanted beasty who is a bit of a scaredy cat - LITERALLY.

Apparently he gets along well with Ginger, but Scooter can send him running for cover under the bed.

I never knew that a Chinchilla should not get wet.

In order to clean his fur he enjoys a good  roll in a large glass bowl of volcanic dust powder.

Mmm mmmmm, such thick soft fur... *S*

We stopped for lunch at the local sub shop, returned to the new abode to pack up a few items that were

no  longer required and soon afterward left the boy to enjoy the rest of the day in his wild kingdom.
