Live Session

August 21, 2005

Sunday afternoon I had my first experience with a group of four guys....

capturing images while they recorded  at a local sound studio.

You may remember back in July, I shot some photos for my friend Joe.

The band members  Joe, Jesse, Tim and Andre (who still remain undecided about a group name)

had time blocked at  Escarpment Sound  located  just north of Acton,  to record eight

of their original songs. I had an invite to capture

some images for "posterity".  Silly really, I hadn't even given any thought to ear protection while in

a  "live room".   I quickly resorted to a few  um, "hand gestures" to  signal  the boys ... hehe.

The guys had on head phones and  I  soon wished that I'd picked up some ear plugs especially while

shooting pics right next to drummer, Andre.

DAMN,  that's  L O U D.

Tim provided the vocals and by the end of the day was a tad prone to "giddiness" or maybe it was

the few beer  nervously sipped between practice and recording,  to sooth his parched throat.

Either that or I flashed a lot more while sitting on the floor, than just  lighting from the camera.

Several enjoyable hours and many laughs later,

I packed it in for the day and  rode the bike home in the cool night air while the beat of

"Chronic ... chronic ... chronic super sonic, I'm a chronic malcontent..."

played over and over in my head.
