DIY Saturday

The long neglected kitchen reno has resumed after a long delay. NOT entirely MY fault. "Work" got in the way, PLUS the new flooring was a special order which was placed at the end of July and due to arrive at the local builder's supply depot  (which shall remain nameless.....ah hem .... within 7 business days)  Another two weeks delay and at last.....a phone call. "Your flooring has arrived"....yipppeeeee.

We arrived at the store at 8:30 Friday evening to make a simple pick up.  The building was practically empty but customer service had to SEARCH for the order. Several phone calls to the flooring department didn't produce results so another body was called to physically go looking for the order. Well at least the order was IN the building. Now time to call in help to take it out of the storage area, move it around to the loading door, where yet another body needed  to be found to load the goods. Apparently the usual help was already occupied with another job. Forty five minutes later the skid of flooring lay bundled ready to load.... IF I was driving a pick up truck, not a four door sedan.

The girlie and I proceeded to cut open the well wrapped plastic wrapped skid, pull out one box at a time and load them into the trunk and back seat of the car ourselves. All that time at the gym is  paying off after all......*S*.  Eight trips later,  the skid was empty. Just in time for the hired help to say, " I'll bring that  skid around to your vehicle now."  Never mind my boy, it's EMPTY and the vehicle is loaded.

Of course, upon arriving home, it was another eight trips to the kitchen to bring in the goods.

Saturday morning, proceed to open boxes, read instructions........um....uh huh....yep yep,  simple, okay. Roll out foam underlay, place laminate flooring  parallel to light source to "hide" seams, start from left to right  and simply SNAP pieces together to lock..... RIGHT.

Well at least it's half way done by mid afternoon ........

might as well settle in  and make myself comfortable, it's going to be a LOOOONG day.

VOILA

DONE,  except for the trim....... and then a new kitchen counter......ARRRggggggggggg.... lol
