The Saga Continues
After weeks of waiting for the order to arrive, the light fixture in the master bathroom has finally been installed. Maybe I should reconsider 400 watts of power ... it's a little too bright. I can find every line and wrinkle on my body. It's a rude awakening looking into the mirror first thing in the morning.
While waiting for the fixture, I started another project. The back bedroom ( formerly belonging to number one son) is currently furnished with a couple of mismatched desks for my work space. Months ago I had started to peel the wall paper and left the job after discovering that the vinyl front came off with some effort, but left the brown paper backing securely glued to the wall. I avoided the task until a few weeks back and rented a wall paper steamer to assist with the job. Six hours, forty bucks and two garbage bags later the job was done. But the walls were left with some collateral damage. After patching the gouges and scrapes, the room looked like it suffered from a bad case of leprosy. No photos were taken - I didn't want any battle scar memories. I have other rooms that are still wall papered and that will have to come off one of these days. I want the experience to fade before tackling that again. With patching and sanding completed, high hide primer was applied, followed by two coats of CIL "Nevada Sunrise" and the painting was completed last weekend. Mmm, the champagne carpet showed a little wear and tear after 18 years of service. New oak laminate hardwood flooring would reallllly freshen up the room and make a task chair very easy to roll back and forth between the computer desk and the adjoining work area. A long dusty evening of removing carpet and under pad and the next project was underway. It's amazing what dirt manages to work its way through carpet fiber and under pad, all the way to the sub floor. BLECH ! Another trip to Home Depot, this time to to load up 10 boxes of Nahani Oak flooring. The staff at Home Depot should know us by name by now. The flooring went down pretty easily after laying the foam padding.
=By the next day we even managed to move the desks back into the room.
A nice custom built unit across that window wall and around the corner sure would look good and be very functional. Yah, that's it..... perfectly logical, it will make me much more efficient and productive while editing images, printing and mounting photos. You know you have to spend money to make money. Now I just have to start "making" money.... but I think that's illegal. lol I can visualize it now. Nice deep work surface from wall to wall, with built in shelves right to the ceiling, on each side of the window. I mentioned the idea to the other half.... he can try to hide, but he can't run. lol With the closet hardware reinstalled along with the mirrored doors, the room is beginning to come together. Still needs baseboard, a gorgeous oriental rug that I have my eye on, a couple of chairs and small table, maybe a brightly coloured roman blind for the window. That will have to wait, but I did find some coordinating fabric to recover my chair.
The rest WILL get done, all in good time... all in good time. |
