Au de Cuir

As noted in a previous entry, I've undertaken over hauling the kitchen which started with a new paint job. ( completely finished last night.....yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. !!) Unless some one has taken notes, they'd probably swear it's the same colour - yellow, but it's NOT. (And noooo, yellow is NOT just yellow. It had been almost a neon canary yellow and now it's a nice soft, warm, golden buttery yellow.) Next step, flooring, counter tops, sink...... but one must also eat.

A shopping trip to the local mall for groceries Friday night resulted in brief a side trip to Mikasa, which ended in the acquisition of new dish ware ( ebony silk) to go with the new updated kitchen. Some thing sleek, modern, and much more "sophisticated" as the gurlie describes it. Despite her more youthful years, I must agree. The local Mikasa didn't have enough stock to complete the order, so we went for a drive this afternoon to the warehouse at Heartland complex in Mississauga to complete the set. BIG MISTAKE - Mikasa is located right next door to DANIER LEATHER ......mmmmm mmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

As we walked towards Mikasa, I could literally smell the aroma of silky, soft lamb skin leather wafting out of the open door at Daniers. My mind went blank, my feet floated off the ground as I was instinctively drawn towards the entrance, until I felt a tug on my arm and was redirected to the task at hand. A quick trip into Mikasa, a few extra bucks added to the charge card and we were done, or so I thought. The odor of leather drifting into my nostrils was more than any one person can stand, so the dish ware packages were stowed in the car. No harm in just "looking" in Danier, even with those half price signs plastered all over the store windows.... muwhahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa.

So many new styles and colours in jackets, pants and outer wear of all kinds. I couldn't believe it. Pale baby blues, pure white, orange and WOW, even yellow ........lmao.

Mmm, it appears that "biker jackets" are the in style and the gurlie proceeded to try on a little form fitting red and white number ( to match her helmet, of course) as I simply perused the store from end to end. Mmmm white leather pants. I always promised myself that once I dropped a few pounds I'd pick up a pair of leather pants and since they were marked down from $275.00 to $119.00, how could I resist. Did I happen to mention that the sales staff at this particular outlet knows me by name and "style" .....lol. White was definitely very cool looking but not so practical so I tried on a pair in black. A snug fitting size 8, but comfortable, cling to the butt fit. ( Thanks to "Dungeon Master" Ken O , for all the glute and hamstring "torture" over the past months.)

Good thing the gurlie's birthday is coming up soon. Forty five minutes later, we walked out with the leather pants, new "biker" jacket, contented smiles .....and a slightly worn charge card.
